Journaling for Kids
Have you ever had so many thoughts that you feel confused and misunderstood? This was me as a child and a teenager. It was then I discovered that a simple piece of paper and a pen has more power then it is credited for. (I know it’s old school…you can use high tech tools if you prefer but try a pen/paper). I would nestle in my room or in the yard and write my thoughts down. Some made sense, some seemed crazy but it always made me feel better. I began writing poetry and didn’t show anyone because I didn’t think it was good enough. I didn’t think my voice was important enough to be heard.
Your thoughts and ideas are seeds that can grow into something amazing. The world will tell us that we are not good enough but that is a fable; it is a lie that so many of us have adopted to believe. Your voice is valuable. You are worthy of being whatever you choose to be—you just have to believe in yourself!
If you feel sad, write. If you feel joy write why you feel joyful. If something causes a feeling of anger, let it out. Writing is a pure form of expression that won’t judge you. Writers, musicians, artists of all kinds use this golden tool to allow their feelings to unfold, sometimes creating something cool like a song, a poem or a beginning of a book.
I hope to continue to guide you on your journaling journey. Feel free to share your stories and I will do my best to post them on my website/blog.
